Southwest Celebrates Walk to School Day

Walk and Bike to School Day is an international initiative that promotes healthy lifestyle choices such as walking or biking to school. The initiative also works to ensure that all students have a safe route to get to and from school. The first Walk and Bike to School day took place in 1997 and today, thousands of schools across America and in more than 40 countries worldwide celebrate walking to school every October. Southwest celebrated Walk to School day on October 2nd.  In addition to walking and biking to school, many Southwest students and families recognized our crossing guards for the role they play in getting students safely to and from school. Thank you to the SW Boosters for organizing this event. Please visit the Walk and Bike to School organization’s website (click here) to learn more about the movement.
